A2P SMS Webpage - Instructions for Rylie

Outline Updated July 17 · for redline

Before GHL can send texts (booking reminders, arrival-day texts), US carriers require the business to register for A2P 10DLC, and the registration reviewer checks our website by hand. Your job: make one page (plus two policy pages) that passes that review. This is a compliance page, not a design piece - a plain page that checks every box beats a beautiful page that misses one.

Step 1 · Pick where it lives

  • First choice: bouldercreekretreat.com (the live Wix site). Carriers want the page on the same domain as the business name we register, reachable from the site's own navigation. A page nobody can find from the homepage is a common rejection.
  • The ops domain (boulder-creek-ops.vercel.app) works only if the review can clearly see how it relates to the brand and how a person would find it. Harder to defend. Use the Wix site unless someone rules it out.
  • [CONFIRM with Roger: the exact business name on the GHL A2P brand registration - the name, address, and contact on the page must match it exactly. If the registration says one entity and the site says "Boulder Creek Retreat," the reviewer needs the DBA relationship stated on the page.]

Step 2 · The page must contain (all of these, visible without logging in)

  1. The business name, matching the brand registration, plus real contact info (address, phone, email) that matches it too.
  2. What the business does, in plain sight (one sentence about the retreat campus is enough - the reviewer must see the SMS use fits the business).
  3. An opt-in form (Step 3).
  4. Footer links to the Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions pages (Step 4). These links must be visible near the form BEFORE someone submits it.
  5. No broken links, no "under construction" anywhere on the path.

Step 3 · The opt-in form, exactly

A simple form: name, phone, and consent checkbox(es). The rules carriers actually reject on:

  • The checkbox is UNCHECKED by default. Always.
  • The checkbox is OPTIONAL - the form must submit without it, even if the phone field is required.
  • Marketing and non-marketing consent are SEPARATE checkboxes if we do both. For Boulder Creek v1, non-marketing only (booking and stay messages) is enough and simpler.

Consent wording pattern that passes review (adapt the bracketed parts only):

I consent to receive non-marketing text messages from [REGISTERED BUSINESS
NAME] about my booking and stay. Message frequency may vary. Message &
data rates may apply. Text HELP for assistance, reply STOP to opt out.

If a marketing checkbox is ever added, its own line:

I consent to receive marketing text messages about special offers and
updates from [REGISTERED BUSINESS NAME] at the phone number provided.
Message frequency may vary. Message & data rates may apply. Text HELP for
assistance, reply STOP to opt out.

Step 4 · The two policy pages

Privacy Policy - must be public and must contain this clause word-for-word (carriers look for it):

No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for
marketing/promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in
support services, such as customer service, is permitted. All other use
case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent;
this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Terms & Conditions - must include, in plain language:

  • How to opt out: "Text STOP to cancel" and what happens after
  • How to get help: "Reply HELP or contact [email/phone]"
  • Expected message frequency
  • "Message and data rates may apply"
  • "Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages"
  • A link back to the Privacy Policy

GHL's help center has boilerplate for both pages - start from theirs, swap in our name and contact.

Step 5 · Verify inside GHL before submitting

The above is what the docs said as of 7/17. The live checklist is inside GHL: Settings > Phone Numbers > Trust Center (the A2P registration flow shows exactly what the current review wants, including sample messages). Whoever submits the campaign (Roger or Rylie together, first time) should walk that screen with this page open and fix any gap it names. GHL's page wins over this doc wherever they differ.

Common rejections, so we avoid a resubmit cycle (each retry costs weeks)

  • Website URL dead, private, or not findable from the main site
  • Consent checkbox pre-checked, or required to submit the form
  • The campaign's described messages not matching the consent language on the page
  • Privacy/Terms links missing near the form, or the privacy clause absent
  • Business name on the page not matching the brand registration (unclear DBA)
  • Sample messages in the campaign missing the brand name or opt-out language
