Campus Map, Guest Version - Spec

Outline Updated July 17 · for redline

What already exists (do not re-make it)

  • The campus aerial EXISTS: design_handoff_boulder_creek-0717/uploads/BoulderCreek-Total.png, 3034 x 1306, full property from the farm fields at the west end to the event barn at the east end, pond and dock visible, forest all around.
  • Checked 7/17: the PNG itself carries NO burned-in labels. The building labels live as a pin overlay in the ops dashboard (design_handoff_boulder_creek-0717/app/CampusMap.jsx, positions per unit in app/inventory.jsx). Those pin positions are a working label layer we can reuse.
  • So this asset is a crop-and-annotate job on an image we already own, not an illustration job. One afternoon of layout, not a commission.

What the guest version highlights

  • Your building - the version sent at T-3 marks the booked building(s) clearly. The wall version marks the building it hangs in ("You are here").
  • The community fire pit
  • Sauna, pond, and dock
  • Parking - main lot and overflow [CONFIRM locations]
  • Trailheads and walking loops [CONFIRM which trails guests may use unguided]
  • Quiet zones - lodging clusters marked so day-of-event noise plans itself [CONFIRM boundaries with Adam]
  • Gathering spaces - main lodge, second lodge, outdoor ceremony field
  • The animals - stables and goats, marked because guests love them [CONFIRM guests may visit unaccompanied, and any rules]
  • Sports areas - courts and open fields

What the guest version drops

  • Back-of-house: equipment and shop areas, staff and resident housing, farm-operations areas, storage buildings
  • Anything not guest-accessible or not yet built - the map shows what a guest can walk to today, nothing aspirational
  • Rates, capacities, booking-system detail - this is a wayfinding page, not a sales sheet

Caption set

Short, warm, one line each. Draft set for redline:

  • Main lodge: "Meals, gathering, the heart of campus"
  • Second lodge: "The long-table room"
  • Fire pit: "Evenings happen here"
  • Sauna + dock: "Cold pond, hot sauna. You know what to do."
  • Trails: "Walking loops start here"
  • Stables + goats: "Say hi. Ask your host about feeding."
  • Parking: "Park here, walk everywhere"
  • Fields: "Ceremonies, games, open sky"

Formats

  • Phone: single PNG or PDF page, readable at phone width, attached to the T-3 arrival guide send. Text labels sized for a small screen - test on a phone before calling it done.
  • Print: one-pager for the wall of each building (letter or 11x17), same map, "You are here" marker per building, laminated or framed [CONFIRM with Rylie's event-prep standard - the map on the wall is one of its checklist items].

Naming reconcile - RESOLVED 7/17 per Roger's building list

Roger's canonical list (7/17): Timberline, Tamarack, Cedar Chalet, Ranch House, Boulder Meadows / Emerson (both used), Round Table, Katka Lodge, Fieldhouse, Burton, White Pines, Timberline Dorms (below the Timberline venue), Creekside (a suite that sleeps 6), Grotto (sleeps 4).

Resolved:

  • Lolo's, Walden, Camelot, and Mirkwood were design-concept names. Retired. The map letters the booking-system names: Timberline Lodge, Cedar Chalet, Tamarack, Ranch House.
  • Boulder Meadows = Emerson. Both names are used; the map can show "Boulder Meadows (Emerson)".
  • Round Table stands as the name. "Boulder Commons" is not on Roger's list.
  • Katka Lodge, Fieldhouse, and Burton are real buildings, now in the booking units as the Lower Campus group. Details and bookability TBC, so the guest map can label them but should not present them as bookable.
  • Timberline Dorms sit below the Timberline venue. That is the geography behind the shared name.
  • Creekside is a suite that sleeps 6. Grotto sleeps 4. Both match the booking data.

Remaining [CONFIRM]:

  • Fieldhouse sleeps count
  • Burton's function
  • White Pines bed count: the website said "White Pine Lodge, up to 23", the booking system says White Pines Dorm, sleeps 28. One number has to win.
